Let me tell you the horrifying story of my brother's haunted house . . . and why I wish I had the information in Your Guide to Ghost Hunting back in the day.
My brother and his girlfriend rented the first floor of an old, three-story Victorian mansion in what used to be an upscale area of St. Joseph, Missouri. Today, that area is filled with unkempt yards, weeds knee high, and old houses with peeling paint.
When my brother moved in, we all went over for a house celebration. No doubt about it, the house was gorgeous--from the shoulder-high wood panels to the (still-functional) gas lamps chandeliers, and detailed tile fireplace. (continued below)

Although the house was spectacular, there was something about it that just felt creepy. Never once in the time that they lived there did I ever want to be in the house by myself. And worse yet, the door that accessed the basement was in their part of the house - - and only once did I open the door and look down into the basement. Never again! It was black and cold, and felt incredibly evil.

Only a few days after Jack moved in, things started to happen. Like the living room chandelier would swing and then stop at a 45 degree angle! Or you could hear someone running down the steps but no one was there.
The straw that broke the camel's back happened late one night. Jack and Clara had gone to bed and Jack had gotten up to go into the kitchen. When he pushed out on the swinging door, it wouldn't open. There was so much resistance on the other side of the door he couldn't move it.
Finally, he put his shoulder into it with his best football move and forced the door open. No one was there.
That night, Jack and Clara threw all their clothes into the car and left. They returned the next day to pick up the other things they had left, but they never again stayed in that house. Not long after, the house burned to the ground.
I'll never forget the level of fear and apprehension we all felt in that house, and that's why I wish I had the information in Your Guide to Ghost Hunting at that time. It would have taught me how to deal with a situation like this one.Have you thought for a moment what it would be like to have this kind of inside knowledge?
